Weather Disasters

Kids love science! I did not have a product about weather. So, I decided to create one about disasters: earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. Whenever I say "research", the kids get really excited. They know there will be a couple of baskets of informational books, they will use the internet, and of course use resources from the room. This product begins with a KWL chart to promote interest and assess background knowledge. Each disaster has a research page to complete and a sheet to illustrate the disaster. At the end of the research, students will compile all pages into a Weather Disaster booklet.

Monthly Writing Snippets

I love doing year-long projects that can be put together at the end of the year as a surprise for parents showcasing their child's work. So, I have a monthly writing idea that I use. I usually model it for all to see on my Elmo before handing it out. I like to explain each of the 3 sections so students understand what is expected. This can take 3 days to complete including the "decoration" of the sheet. The sections each include a different writing opportunity. Students know this "Snippet" will be displayed in the hallway. At the end of the month, they are taken down, stored until the end of the year when students will put them together in order, and we will bind them. Each Snippet gives students an opportunity to practice grammar and writing skills. They also require students to think about their response prior to writing. I take a writing grade each month from the Snippet sheet. These Snippets are intended to be quick-writes using 2-3 sentences.

Labels for Journals, Notebooks, & Folders

I love to deal with student journals, notebooks, or folders as quickly as possible. I use printed labels. They are easy to use--print, peel, stick, and write the student name!! I decided to create a product concentrating on just labels. I have 24 different colorful label templates ready for you to print out using Avery #5163 or 48863. This label sheet has 10 labels 2" x 4". Subjects include: reading, spelling, writing, grammar, homework, study skills, social studies, science, word work, handwriting, and math.

Bookmarks

I always kept a caddy of bookmarks available to my students. It was something I did to motivate them to take pride in their reading selections. The smiles on their faces always made me know it helped. When students come up and ask, "Are there anymore bookmarks?", I could print some off quickly.

I have created a bookmark product that includes 20 different colorful styles with the purpose of promoting
student reading. There are 4 bookmarks on each sheet. Most are "reading" bookmarks, but I have also included a few "Welcome Back to School" styles. Bookmarks are designed to print from your printer. They have front designs with a message, and a back side color design matched to the front. Run these on cardstock for longer durability. Laminating also helps.

Why not have several bookmarks available to your students at anytime? You can get the bookmark product at my stores:

Happy Birthday Calendar Posters

Looking ahead to a new year, I always had some sort of themed display for student birthdays. The last one I had was cupcakes. But, I also had a bulletin board behind my desk area. The monthly calendar was there along with a monthly birthday calendar poster. I wrote student names and their date on the poster. Posters were laminated so I used a dry erase marker--that way I could use the posters more than one year. These were a reminder to me as to who I needed to prepare birthday bags with goodies for their treat. The bags were purchased at Michael's. They are smaller, like 5 x 8 inches. I used the small white stickers for name tags on lots of items. There are 80 per page. I put a name sticker on each bag. One of the first week activities we did was to have students decorate their bag. I told them only that they would be getting the bag back sometime during the year. As their birthday rolled around, I would fill it with a sucker, loose candy, birthday pencil, click pencil, birthday bookmark, and a birthday bracelet. I would set on their desk welcoming them on their birthday. The kids loved it!
